Around the world, many of our fisheries are on the verge of collapse due to unsustainable fishing practices and habitat destruction. Some fisheries, however, remain healthy and productive due to successful management, responsible harvesting and advances in fish farming.
We are committed to supporting these sustainable fisheries and solutions for healthier oceans that can thrive for years and generations to come. That’s why we are partnering with seafood suppliers and industry leaders in developing our sustainable seafood strategy that will bring us to our goal of 100% Certified Sustainable Seafood in all our locations from coast to coast.
This includes sourcing and serving seafood that is Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Certified and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certified, and OceanWise certified, and avoiding those species that are on SeaChoice Canada’s “red” avoid list.
By purchasing fish and seafood that is certified by these groups, we’re helping to ensure that the seafood we serve to you is caught and farmed in ways that that can maintain or increase production in the long term, without jeopardizing the health or function of our vibrant and essential ocean ecosystems.
